Hello people. This blog is basically for people to share
their travel(Local and International) and visa experiences .I have so much to share and I expect to read
about yours as well. Let’s make it fun…
Day
1- Naija to Brussels
So I left Nigeria for Brussels on this very day.
First of all while checking in at the airport, the airline staff asked me about
my BTA and hotel which am staying in Brussels which was quite strange, and she
made an issue out of it o! I was dazed and gave her attitude, she then calls
her superior who now explained to me that they are to find out from passengers
about BTA and am like oh I see. I didn’t give them any information in the end
though, except my hotel details.
Anyways after what seemed like an endless extremely
bumpy flight with just about 20 of us arriving Brussles after dropping
passengers off in France,I was like phew! The flight was sooo bumpy it got me
thinking of all sorts, like why am I even in this plane? why did I fly this particular
airline? How do kids who loose their mothers at a very young age cope? Was my
mind racing or what? I thought of a thousand and one things, tried to sleep
through the turbulence but couldn’t, the turbulence was looong and baaaaad.
Passport control was ok,he asked why I was in
Brussles and if I had a master card which I was about to show him while he was
flipping through the pages of my passport, he goes don’t bother. On my way out
of the airport, while asking for directions to the train station, some guys asked
which country I came from,as I said Nigeria they go,wow,do u know p-square?we
love them. I smiled J,it made me feel proud. So I went
hunting for a sim card at the train station ,I got one from an Indian guy who over heard me
asking someone about this particular sim I was told to buy, he quickly brings
it out of his bag,and kept me wondering hmhmhm…, does he carry it everywhere? Anyways
he became my GPS and helped me locate the way to my hotel. In between I met
some girl on the train and we got talking, she askd about air fare to Nigeria
when I told her she gasped!and goes wow!dats expensive!Kai this English sha,its
so hard communicating with people when you are in a non-English speaking
country. We sha communicated somehow and yes!it took me about an hour to locate
my hotel why? Because of language barrier.i walked like I was in the dessert, just
me and my luggage and it wasn’t funny. At some point I could see my hotel from
a distance but didn’t know how to get there, typical JJC!Anyways on Getting there
I had to wait for check in time as I couldn’t even pay for early check in
because they were fully booked, the
Algerian receptionist was very entertaining and thank God for wifi at
the lobby. The first question he asked was if the Federal Govt had found the
Chibok girls, sincerely for a split second I wasn’t sure what he was talking
about, then am like oh! No they haven’t ,he goes, that’s really sad. He talked
about his own country also and how the Government can be non chalant, in my
mind am like it’s an African thing.
So I finally checked in and fter a long bath,no
sleep in sight, starving, I went sight-seeing
(no dulling ).On my way to the city
center i realized I took the longest walk ever, the route was sooo short going
back I kept laughing at myself .Then spent longer than I should have at Mac
donalds because the waiter couldn’t speak English, well i still enjoyed my meal
anyways. The hotel was nice, cozy, cheap and cheerful, just that the heater wasn’t
exactly working but somehow I managed.I tried to stay awake to say my last prayer
but hey!you really can’t cheat nature…i woke up
at midnight!!!
Day
2- Brussels and Paris
I woke up quite early because of breakfast which was
horrible,so I ended up in Mc Donalds, visited a few shops, got back to my hotel
in time to check out.The receptionist was already giving me the “you should be
checking out by now eye”,then he goes he is giving me 30mins to check out if
not he will come check me out himself, what do you expect frm a crappy hotel
really?Anyways I had already packed so all I needed to do was get my things to
the lobby which I did in less than 3 minutes before they help me check out o!
Hm. The Lobby?!thats the most beautiful place in the
hotel,so cool and glamourous.I actually preferred it to the hotel room, well like
I said earlier, what do u expect from a cheap and cheerful hotel.Got a cab to
the train station where I waited for about 2hours for my train to paris.Whike
waiting,I just couldn’t wait to see Paris…it was like adream come true.
France!Yipeee…Train ride was quite fast,slept for a
while, had low battery and was thinking to myself if it wold be strange to ask
the guy on ther other side if I could share his charger with him,and am
thinking also, does he speak Englis?so why bother! So got to Paris, very nice reception
I got,I was looking at the city of love in awe on my way to the hotel, the cab guy was extremely nice
and receptive..well..maybe because he ‘s Ghanian..Paris is soo crowded,reminded
me so much like England where you see people running like they are being
chased. It was quite a lopng drive from the train station to my hotel so I had
enough time to stare, criticize ,view and laugh while the cabbie explained some
historical moments .
My hotel was grand, cool environment, close to the
mall(which I visited same day of cos). After getting to my hotelf from the mall
I slept like a baby.Viva la paris!
Day
3 –Paris
I went to Disney village to have dinner with my business
patner/host/tour guide. And wow!Disney is just as they say GRAND! Went on a balloon
ride and saw the whole of Disney,I ate this fantastic dish that came with soo
much efizzy, cant remember the name. Some white people where starring at my
food, wondering what it was all about.By the time I got back to my room I was
knackered.
Day
4- Lazy day in Paris
Today was just a lazy day, slept for soo long, woke up
late (can’t try this at home),made Indomie ,which I didn’t really enjoy because
I didnt come with my Naija spices, anyways ,half bread is better than none. And
oh!i forgot to mention how it took me so long to figure out how to use the gas
cooker after doing trial and error I finally nailed it!Due to all my waka
waka,my toe was hurting so I brought out my small robb which I got from Naija, and guess what!it was empty As in I bought
it from the supermarket the day I was leaving Naija.I was shocked!
Day
5- Exploring the city of love
Took the train to Paris, met up with my tour guide
.Went to Eiffel tower and the crowd was something else I quickly changed my
mind about going inside the Tower .By the time I was done touring Eiffle tower, shopping
and feeding my eyes with designer things
I was ready to go back to my hotel and off I went.
Day
6-Final Day
I spent the morning packing all my things as my
flight was in the evening, then I spent the whole afternoon at Disney. Disney
is really as they say even though I didn’t go inside I felt the magic. I met
some Nigerians on my way to Disney, they
were shocked to see me alone, of cos I didn’t bother to explain myself. I
even helped them with their luggage as they had 1001 bags scattered everywhere
when all they needed was an extra big bag to accommodate the smaller bags. And
one of them had a bad leg, couldn’t walk for too long so I did some good
Samaritan work after all we all took the same bus and they were grateful so was
i.
After Disney, I checked out and was at the hotel
lobby for a while just chilling and enjoying the wifi. Then off to the
airport.Oh my! Charles De Gaulle Aiport is one of the most beautiful aiports i
have ever seen, soo pretty(Please bear in mind I came in through Brussels).Yes
I said pretty. The décor and colour was just out of this world, the chairs ,the
toilet? wow!I was in awe, and kept wondering which company did the interior and
what their theme or motive for using bright colours for an airport was.I was
just happy to be at the airport seeing such cheerful colours. In between the
crappy airline I flew was more organized here unlike when I was coming, check in
was fast and hassle free. And it was a full flight, people from different parts
of the world, and I was thinking to myself kai! We all like cheap things
sha-lol.It felt good to be back home…
